Trout Spey Fly Tying Contest!

Our Newest Fly Tying Contest has begun! This time the theme is Trout Spey.

Rules for Entry

1. Tie up your favorite swung fly trout bug. It can be a soft hackle or streamer, anything you like to fish "on the swing" for trout.

2. Take a good quality photo of your fly or flies.*

-Make sure your photo is well lit with a good clean background.

-Your photo can be taken with a camera phone but please make sure the settings are to the highest resolution possible (The photo file size should be at least 1.5 mb's).

*You may enter up to two flies, so pick your best two!

3. Email your entry to editor@swingthefly.com along with the name of the fly and a short description of where & why you like to fish it. **

-Rename your photo file to include your name before you send. (Example: JohnSmith001)

-Please make sure to title the email "Trout Spey Contest Entry"

DEADLINE for entries is 11pm on August 25th, 2017 so get to tying!

**By entering, you agree to Swing the Fly LLC using your photo in both print & online. No Purchase Necessary.

Judging Criteria:

A panel of experts we select in the Trout Spey field will judge the entries based on:

-Creativity & Originality (Extra points if you invented a unique pattern).

-Tying ability (Proportions, clean thread wraps and head, etc)

-Perceived Effectiveness (Does it look like it would catch trout?)

***If you are selected as a winner, we will ask you for the pattern's recipe to include with the photo in Issue 2017.4 of Swing the Fly.

PRIZES

1ST Place The winner gets a Redington Hydrogen Trout Spey! (Length/Wt of your choice, $349.95 value!)

2ND Place gets their choice of a RIO InTouch series line ($100 Value).

3RD Place gets their choice of a RIO premier line ($80 value).

Random Drawing: 1 entry will be selected randomly to win a Swing the Fly schwag pack of a Sweatshirt, T-Shirt, Hat, & Sticker ($115 value). All you have to do is submit a fly to be entered in the drawing. (Sizes limited to stock on hand)
