Bill McMillan is one of the more influential steelhead fly fishers of my generation. I met Bill when he came to do a presentation to the Totem Fly Fishers in September 1985. Over the ensuing years we corresponded and met now and then to share a drink and lunch usually at the Skagit Brew House in Mount Vernon, WA. Bill is a devotee of Roderick Haig-Brown whose writings and actions inspired McMillan to follow a similar path in his writing and conservation activities. This book is about McMillan’s life, his philosophy about Nature, his fly fishing preferences and the flies he developed and used.
